Lesson 2 of 5 · 4 min
4-4-2 isn't one formation. It's at least two, depending on how the midfield four is shaped.
A flat four suits a team with strong, two-way wide midfielders and full-backs who don't need to provide much attacking width themselves. A diamond suits a team stacked with central midfield talent and full-backs athletic enough to supply width alone.
